Former Student
You never know who you might see at the market!
It was a hot day at the market, a good day, but a hot day! Shane and I had just sat down in our tall director chairs in front of the battery powered fan when a motorcycle pulled up. The person got off and removed their helmet. With hair in a braid and sides shaved this young lady grabbed her satchel and made her way with purposeful strides to our tent.
"Beautiful work," she says. We respond with thanks of appreciation and Shane mentions her motorcycle, "Nice Honda Shadow!" The talk continues and she turns to me and asks, "What is your name?"
"Diana, Diana Kio," I reply. And then she looks me straight in the eyes with a smile on her lips and says, "I'm Robin ___! You were my fifth grade teacher!"
My heart swelled with pride as I looked at my former student. We hugged and chatted and then hugged again. You never know who you might see at the market.
